Homage to sculpture … Constance Guisset has created this collection of trompe-l'oeil dishes and stools whose "inflated" effect gives an illusion of flexibility and malleability. With its odd, plump, irregular shapes and fingerprints embedded in the material, Canova both intrigues and surprises. The designer explains: ''I like abstraction; it leaves room for imagination''… At first glance, the material seems soft, like a deflated cushion, a cloud or even a cheese nan! In reality, these stools, handcrafted in Italy, are made of rigid, solid ceramic. Brought to life with movement and undulations, the ceramic adopts an approximative form, alive and dynamic. Very tactile, Canova is an object you will want to look at and touch to fully appreciate its exceptional use of materials.
